medullary Carcinoma

Man, 61 y.o.

Large, very firm nodule in the left lobe (cm 5x7x8 circa, 140 cc);
Hypoechoic, widely dishomogeneous structure, with irregular borders.
The trachea was displaced to the right side.
Pathologic left
cervical lymphatic node enlargement.

The upper image was made by convex 5 MHz probe, the lower by linear 10 MHz probe.

Serum calcitonin: 618 pg/ml (n. v. <10).

FNAB in the thyroid nodule: medullary carcinoma.
FNAB in a lymphatic node: medullary carcinoma.
Histological examination: medullary carcinoma.
