Little nodule in the middle-apex of the right lobe (11 x
12 x 14 mm, 1 ml).
Very hypoechoic dishomogeneous structure, with irregular borders.
Calcitonin = 100 pg/ml (n.v. < 10 pg).
FNA: medullary carcinoma.
Calcitonin in the needle washing > 30.000 pg.
Histological examination: medullary carcinoma.
Plummer' adenoma is present in the base of the lobe (not visible in
the image).
Colordoppler and powerdoppler
ultrasound scan of the nodule.
